No Frickin Chicken Diner Takes Flight!
Hey Frick Faces! And welcome to the first blog of the NFC Diner Journey.
We're thrilled to share a behind-the-scenes look at the exhilarating journey as we spread our wings and embark on the exciting adventure of bringing No Frickin Chicken Diner to life. Buckle up; it's been quite the ride!
The Waiting Game - Thanks, Solicitors!
Opening a diner is no small feat, and, of course, we've had our fair share of hurdles. At one point, I even Googled ‘Why do solicitors take so long!’
Google said: Searches need to be carried out, documents need to be negotiated and reports need to be drafted. All these take time and not all are in the solicitor's control. Clients sometimes take a “commercial view” to get a deal across the line quicker but if a lender is involved, it is very unlikely to do so.
Which gave us no comfort, as Paddy sat by his phone, refreshing his emails and me moaning at him to chase them again and trying to google a more satisfying answer… It really did take a lot longer than we expected. However, on the 22nd December 2023, we had signed all the contracts and the keys are now ours!
Crafting a Team of All-Stars
Our family is growing, and we couldn't be more thrilled about it! We've welcomed some incredible individuals into the No Frickin Chicken family. Some of these fantastic souls have already been out there with us, representing at markets and events. Their passion for what we do is infectious, and we can't wait for you to meet them!
The Magic of the Deep Clean
We were leant the keys for two days of non-stop scrubbing, degreasing, polishing, and a sprinkle of elbow grease – the diner got the special treatment. We're talking a deep clean that left no nook or cranny untouched. It's amazing how a little bit of TLC can bring out the true beauty of a place. Thanks to everyone that joined in the deep clean - it wasn’t easy and it didn’t smell great, but we smashed it.
Turning Dreams into Designs
Even during the waiting game, we've been hard at work envisioning the soul of our diner. Window designs, murals, and a dash of creativity have been brewing. Thanks to friends, family, strangers (that are soon to be friends) and local charity shops, we've scored some incredible goodies that will add that extra dash of NFC-ness to our space.
The Supplier Symphony
Our journey wouldn't be complete without the fantastic suppliers who've joined us on this adventure. We've had enlightening conversations with coffee connoisseurs, wine aficionados, beer enthusiasts, cider champions, and so many more. From meat alternatives to toilet paper (because let's be honest, it's a vital ingredient in any restaurant!), we're carefully curating a lineup that promises to elevate your No Frickin Chicken experience.
What's Next?
The excitement is palpable, and we can't wait to share every step of this journey with you. Keep an eye out for updates on our window designs, sneak peeks into the menu, and a reveal of the mural that will undoubtedly be a selfie magnet! Tomorrow, yes, New Years Day, we will be painting the whole place a satisfying white with Paddy’s long time bestie Neal. No rest for us, we can’t wait to get the Diner open as soon as possible!
